Next to Normal

Announcing Houston auditions for Next to Normal. Auditions are available in-person and via video submission. Equity and non-Equity performers are encouraged to audition.

IMPORTANT DATES

First Rehearsal: July 1, 2024
Opening Night: July 26, 2024
Closing Night: July 28, 2024

EQUITY PRINCIPAL AUDITIONS

What: Equity Principal Auditions (Non-Equity actors are also welcome and encouraged to attend)
When: Saturday March 16, 2024 and Sunday, March 17, 2024
Time: 12:00pm - 6:00pm (both days)
Where: Stages - 800 Rosine St. Houston, TX  77019
Parking: Self-parking is in The Gordy Parking Garage located at 3215 D’Amico Street

SEEKING

(Note: All actors must be 18 years of age or older)

NATALIE (Female, 20s to play teen, any ethnicity) - Diana and Dan’s troubled daughter, sister to Gabe. She is an accomplished pianist and hardworking student, her struggles are exacerbated by her mother’s behavior. She greatly admires Henry. 

HENRY (Male, 20s to play teen, POC) - Natalie’s classmate and love interest. The all-around musician, philosopher, and slacker. He has an intoxicating capacity for sympathy and romance.

DR. MADDEN (Male, 30s-50s, POC) - Diana’s psychiatrist. Quite assured in his practice and considered somewhat of a rock star. Note: The individual cast as Dr. Madden will also double as Diana’s psychopharmacologist, Dr. Fine. This individual will also play other various voices, doctors, nurses, etc. in conjunction with the rest of the cast when called for.

(Note: the roles of Diana, Dan, and Gabe have been cast.)

Self-tape video submissions will also be accepted. Please submit to: HBTAuditions@gmail.com. Please only submit the provided show material for the specific role(s) you desire. Include your headshot and resume.

PREPARATION

Please prepare the provided show sides and song cuts for the role(s) in which you desire to be considered. An accompanist will be provided. A reader will be provided.
